The Advantages of Mezzanine Floors

Four reasons why your business needs them.

If you’ve been anywhere near a shopping centre, warehouse, shop, or office sometime in your lifetime, chances are good that you’ve seen a mezzanine floor.  But, just in case you weren’t sure what it was called, mezzanine floors are raised platforms that sit somewhere between the floor and the ceiling, just like a raised section of floor.

Mezzanine floors are particularly useful, which is why they crop up in so many places.  So, if you own any sort of industrial or retail property, here is why you should consider installing a mezzanine floor:

Increased space

If you have a warehouse or shop, you must have had times when your usable area just wasn’t enough.  Whether it is an increase in stock, or a transitional phase between stock cycles, there are times when every business owner could do with a bit more space.  Mezzanine floors are ideal for this.  The raised platform is sturdy enough to hold stock, and is essentially just more utilisable floor space.  What’s more, the space underneath them can be fitted with racking or left open as extra storage space.

Fewer Expenses

If your business, and therefore your stock, is expanding, adding onto your premises is unavoidable.  Expanding outwards comes with a host of planning and building expenses, in which material and labour can become very costly.  However, mezzanine floors allow you to expand from within.  And, thanks to their prefabricated nature, these floors are far cheaper than construction.

Property Value

Any additions to your property will add value to it.  If you are renting, your landlord will only be too happy to know that his or her property value is rising.  If you own your property, your resale value stands to rise substantially with the addition of a mezzanine floor.

As previously mentioned, mezzanine floors are extremely versatile additions to any premises.  Here are just a few of their many uses:

  • Storage:  Mezzanines are extremely useful in warehouse environments.  Sturdy enough to hold stock, mezzanines can be uses as storage or despatch areas.  The extra space decreases the amount of stock on the warehouse floor, which also creates a safer working environment.
  • Shops:  Mezzanines are also useful storage areas for retailers.  In addition, they can be used as elevated showrooms or display areas, especially for shops that need a lot of space to display their products.
  • Offices:  Mezzanines are also handy office solutions.  In both industrial and retail environments, mezzanines solve the space issue by elevating the office area and leaving the warehouse or shop floor open for products.

A cheaper solution to space addition that also increases your property value – this is exactly what a mezzanine floor is.  So, if you need a great way to add floor space to your business’s premises, a mezzanine floor is the best solution.
