It’s Our Birthday!

2015 is going to be a special year for Krost Shelving and Racking because it marks the 50th anniversary of our founding. As a family-oriented company, we love celebrating birthdays – so the fact that it’s our birthday is really special to us.

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be posting some articles about our history, which we hope you’ll find illuminating, entertaining, and inspiring. See, at Krost Racking and Shelving, we don’t just say we’re a family business – we actually mean it. Not only do we treat our staff like family, but Krost Brothers, the precursor to Krost Shelving and Racking, was founded by three brothers – and you don’t get more family-oriented than that.

Over the past fifty years, we’ve had good days and we’ve had bad days, but we’ve gone from strength to strength.

We believe this is because of one thing: good family values.

And our values feed into everything we do.

We are committed to providing a high-quality product and friendly, helpful service. And, when it comes to designing, building, and installing shelving and racking systems, we know that its attention to detail that sets us apart from the average. We were taught that details matter, and they do – which is why we still do things the good, old-fashioned way.

We’ve come a long way since our current CEO’s grandfather, Jack Krost, founded a plumbing business with his brothers in the 1940s, but we relish looking back on our past to remind us of where we once were. James Baldwin said, “Know from whence you came. If you know whence you came, there are absolutely no limitations to where you can go,” and we agree with him. Plus, we like to think that we live this philosophy out every day, in everything that we do.

So what can you look forward to in our anniversary series?

We’ll be looking at what was going on in the world when Krost Racking and Shelving was born in 1965, and we’ll be doing a special feature on the history of the Krost brothers. We’ll also be introducing you to some of our more skilled workers at the factory – people we are proud to have trained – and we’ll be giving you a sneak peek at the shelving systems we designed and installed in both the UNISA and UJ libraries.

We hope you’ll enjoy this series.

We are certainly looking forward to sharing it with you.
